The Federal Freight Company (FGK) has developed a new specialized container for the transportation of bulk goods, primarily cereals. Tests of the prototype took place in October.
The main difference between the new container in the method of loading. In standard rolling stock it is carried out from the end, and in the developed FGK - through the upper hatch. Due to this, the container can be loaded directly on the elevator. At the same time, side hatches and an inclined inner prism will allow wheat to be unloaded into regular grain receivers without the use of air pumps. Moreover, the container does not even have to be removed from the car or railway platform.
“After certification of the container and approval of local loading specifications, together with the West Siberian Railway, we will offer shippers of the region a comprehensive grain transportation service, including the provision of containers on the company's universal platforms equipped with fittings,” said FGK General Director Victor Voronovich.
The first batch of grain, after certification is completed, will be shipped from the Karbyshevo1 station in the Omsk region of the West Siberian Railway to Turkey via the Akhalkalaki land border crossing in Georgia. Transportation on this route is planned to be carried out on a regular basis. The partner in the project will be the First Transport and Logistics Company.
In the future, a new multimodal service will be replicated for transportation to China, added to FGK.
